The Director of the Fine Stone and Art Treasure Museum in Beijing, Professor Zhou Hongxing, paid a courtesy call on the Head of Mission of the Embassy, Mr. Philip Miller, to apprise him of the work of the Museum in preserving the traditional arts of China such as calligraphy and the manufacture of lacquered furniture.

Mr. Peng Lichong writing the Bahamian National Anthem in Chinese.

Accompanying Professor Zhou were assistants Lu, Peng Lichong and Chen Xiaohai, all artists in their own right. The Director presented Mr. Miller with two of his “finger-writings” and Mr. Peng wrote the National Anthem of The Bahamas, right on the spot, using the suspension technique.

The discussion that ensued explored ways in which China and The Bahamas could cooperate in preserving and promoting the traditional arts of both countries.
