Bahamas at Eco-Tourism Conference

At the invitation of the Tourism Administration of Jiangxi Province, the Nanchang Municipal Government and the China International Economic Development Promotion Association, Mr. Philip Miller, Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and Ms. Fiona Han, Embassy staff member, attended the China International Eco–Tourism Exhibition & Award Tourism Conference in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, from 20 to 22 October, 2007.

On October 21st, the opening ceremony was presided over by the Vice Mayor of Nanchang and the other distinguished guests.
 
 
 
 
 
 
In the afternoon, ecology experts lectured on the importance of protecting the environment and on new techniques that China could learn from other countries.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Mayor of Nanchang, Mr. Hu Xian, held a welcome dinner also on October 21, distinguished guests, including Mr. Miller, the Ambassador of Timor-Leste and Mr. Jiang Mingjun, Chairman of the International Eco-Safety Cooperative Organization.
 
 
 
 
 
 
One of the features of the Exhibition was the Bahamas Pavillion, which focused on protected and endangered species in The Bahamas such as the iguana, the flamingo and tropical reef fish.
