Bahamas at Special Olympics

Oct 10, 2007 Following the most spectacular Opening Ceremony the world has ever seen, 7,500 athletes took to their respective competition sites to begin their quest for victory. Athletes from some 175 countries will compete over the next 10 days in all of the registered Olympic sports. The Bahamas will compete in the sports of Bocce, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming and Track & Field. Philip Miller, Head of Mission of the Bahamian Embassy in China, hosted the Bahamian contingent to a special reception in Shanghai on the occasion of the Special Olympics World Games. On hand were the 32 member team and their 10 coaches and delegation heads. Also present were various board members of Special Olympics Bahamas and some 40 family members. Mr. Miller welcomed the 100 guests to China, congratulated the athletes who had been selected to these prestigious games and those who had already won medals.
